boston taxi The 22nd largest city in America (population wise) and the state capital of Massachusetts, Boston is one of the oldest cities in the country, established as early as 1630. It is often recognized as the "cultural capital" of the surrounding region of New England. As a city, it has witnessed countless historical events, including a decisive role in the American Revolution. It is the home of some of the top universities in the world, including Boston University and Harvard University (located nearby in the town of Cambridge), as well as some of the country's finest sports teams - the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and New England Patriots. No wonder the city ranks among the top 3 on the livability index in America. Boston is a large city, covering an area of 89.63 square miles. Public transportation in the city is well developed, but still leaves a lot to be desired. Driving personal vehicles is a problem because of difficulties in finding parking space. Consequently, taxis are one of the most common ways of getting around in Boston. Boston taxi services cover the entire city, are quite affordable and typically provide good service - though there can be quite a many exceptions, of course. Like New York, the city has a well-developed cab network which caters to a vast population of working professionals and students who flock to the city for its educational institutes. Since the city was settled centuries ago, the roads network and infrastructure is generally not adequate enough to accommodate a lot of traffic, which, of course, has further increased the popularity of cabs in Boston. There are dozens and dozens of taxi companies operating out of Boston. Cost wise, Boston cab services are more expensive than other comparable metropolitan cities in the US. Initial charge is $2.60, followed by a standard rate of $2.80 per mile. $0.47 is charge for every minute stopped in traffic. If you're traveling to the Logan Airport, you will also have to cough up a $2.75 surcharge, while return trips from the airport will cost you $8.00 in surcharge. A 3 mile trip in New York would cost you $8.50, but in Boston, it will set you back by $11 or more. As with any other city, exercise due diligence before taking up calling any Boston cab. Start off by hitting Google. Type in "Boston cab" followed by your zip or area. This will show you all the prominent taxi services in your area, along with some reviews in Google Places. This will give you a fair idea what to expect in terms of service. If in doubt, look up the particular service online and check out individual reviews. Most cab companies in Boston are available 24x7. Most have fleets of newer cars, though there are, of course, some exceptions. As Boston grows larger and attracts an ever increasing population, a strong need is being felt for an even greater number of cabs in the city. At present, the city has a cap which fixes the number of taxis at 1,825, which has led to higher fares. An antiquated licensing system that works on "medallions" has shot up prices further north. As the city grows, these problems will be sorted out in due course. But as a commuter, you can still expect great service from most of Boston's taxi operators. boston cab | | 5:19 am |

Having never been to Boston Massachusetts, it seemed like a great time to venture into the unknown. boston taxi | | 5:12 am |
boston taxi boston taxiTaxicabs are very important means of transportation. Boston became the first municipality to approve the Ford Transit for their taxi use. They say the Transit, "Fits the bill" and added Mark Cohen, director of licensing in the Boston Police Department Division, "We're very impressed with the Transit Connect, it's the closest thing to a purpose-built vehicle for taxi use that I've seen in 25 years." The roomy, flexible interior of the Transit Connect 2010, North American Truck of the year seems perfectly suited for the purpose of taxi service. It provides excellent headroom, passenger visibility, and sliding doors, which passengers can easily step through. The Transit Connect will also deliver an estimated 30 percent improvement in fuel economy, due to it's standard 2.0 liter four-cylinder gas engine. Taxi operators have also asked for a version that runs on alternative fuels. Ford is offering them new engine prep packages that allow conversions both, to compressed natural gas and liquefied propane gas. The Ford fleet marketing manager spent 2009 taking their concept of using the Transit Connect as a taxi service across the United States. In doing that, it also helped the Ford people to refine the vehicle so it could stand up to the taxis standards. For example, after taking the Transit around to different areas promoting the vehicle as a vehicle to be used for taxi service, Ford moved the rear seat back three inches, they added a grab handle for passengers, to grab onto when entering and exiting the vehicle. They installed a ventilation unit to heat and cool the second row. They also added vinyl seats, per cab drivers request, because of there durability. Ford has been the industry leader in the taxi business, for decades. Examples being the Crown Victoria, that many areas use and also the Escape Hybrid. Ford continues to invest in fuel-efficient new engines. They keep delivering more technologies, while listening to what the people say their needs are. Ford is listening because the the products they are delivering, is what people want. After a night of passionate culture nurturing another type of hunger makes it's way: the dinning hour.
